Theatres of Belarus. Yakub Kolas National Academic Drama Theatre

On June 20, 2014 the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will issue the stamp “Yakub Kolas National Academic Drama Theatre. “Nesterka” of the series “Theatres of Belarus”. 

A series continuation. Beginning Nos. 958, 968 and 1024. Designer: Yelena Medved. Printing: offset. Colour: full colour. Paper: chalk-surfaced, gummed. Perforation: comb 14: 141/4. Size of the stamp: 40x28 mm. Sheet composition: 8 stamps & 1 coupon. Size of the sheet: 135x108 mm. Print quantity: 80.000 stamps. 

The stamp was printed at the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Bobruisk Integrated Printing House named after A. T. Nepogodin”.

Letter “N” is equal to the surface tariff of a postcard abroad.

The Yakub Kolas National Academic Drama Theatre was founded in 1926 in Vitebsk as the Second Belarusian State Theatre (BGT-2). In 1944 the theatre was given the name of Yakub Kolas. In 1977 it was awarded the title of Academic. From 2001 the theatre has the present name. 

The theatre was opened with the performance "In days of old” by l.Ban. In 1941 there was a premiere of the performance “Nesterka” based on the play written by V.Volski. In 1946 the theatre was awarded the USSR National Prize for the performance “Nesterka” that became its visiting card.

The stamp project was prepared in cooperation with the Yakub Kolas National Academic Drama Theatre.

Colour of the postmark — black. 

Special postmark and FDC designed by Ye. Medved.

A special cancellation on FDC will be carried out on the stamp issuing day at the post office No.15 of Vitebsk.
