XXIII Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang Elements of protection
The XXIII Olympic Winter Games will be held from 9 to 25 February 2018 in Pyeongchang (the Republic of Korea).
Pyeongchang was announced the host city of the XXIII Winter Olympics on July 6, 2011 at the 123rd IOC Session in Durban (South Africa).
2 943 athletes from 92 countries are expected to attract the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, which is the largest number of athletes in the history of the Winter Olympic Games.
Four new disciplines in existing sports were introduced to the Winter Olympic program in Pyeongchang, including big air snowboarding, mass start speed skating, mixed team alpine skiing and mixed doubles curling.
