Stanislaw Moniuszko (born 05.05.1819 in the estate of Ubel, Igumensky district of Minsk province, now the village of Ubel, Chervensky district of Minsk region — died 04.06.1872) was a Belarusian and Polish composer, conductor, teacher, classic of Polish and Belarusian vocal lyrics, creator of the national classical opera and the first national symphonic works.
His works are characterized by bright melody, lyricism, simplicity of musical language. His operas and operettas are notable for the skill of creating individual characteristics and constructing mass, ensemble and solo scenes. The source of his musical language lies in Polish and Belarusian folklore (many of his original melodies are considered folk).
The jubilee date — the 200th birth anniversary of Stanislaw Moniuszko — is included in the UNESCO List of Anniversaries.
The project was prepared on materials of the National Library of Belarus and the National Historical Archives of Belarus.
