100 yeas of the Komsomol

Element of protection

October 29, 2018 marks 100 years since the proclamation of the All‑Union Leninist Young Communist League, usually known as the Komsomol. In its entire history the Komsomol membership was more than 200 million Soviet young men and women.

Komsomol was a massive multinational organization that had a tremendous influence in all spheres of life: industry and economics, education and science, culture and art, sports and leisure activities. In each institution, enterprise and security agencies there was necessarily a primary Komsomol organization.

The stamp is based on the reproduction of the painting “Portrait of a Student” (V. S. Protasenia, oil on canvas, 1971). The FDC depicts the reproduction of the painting “On the Scaffolding” (P. N. Gavrilenko, oil on canvas, 1960).

The project was prepared in cooperation with the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus.

A special cancellation on FDC will be carried out at the post office No.1 of Minsk (shop “Philately”, 16 Moskovskaya street) on the stamp issuing day.
