There are more than 4,000 species of ladybirds, which are common in all parts of the world. Some of them are found on all plants with aphids: trees, bushes and grasses. Other ladybirds live only in the wild grass. Others live in the meadows adjacent to streams. Some ladybirds live only on trees. Some species live in the reeds and other aquatic plants; they have longer legs that help them hold on to the plants which easily bend in the wind.
7-spot ladybirds are common in Europe, North Africa and Asia. These species feed on aphids and spider mites.
22-spot ladybirds feed on fungi (mildew) unlike most of other ladybirds.
14-spot ladybirds eat small insects founded in the bushes.
Cream-spot ladybirds eat aphids and pollen.
