100 yeas of the BSSR

Element of protection

January 1, 2019 marks 100 years since the proclamation of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic (BSSR). On this day in 1919 the Manifesto of the Provisional Workers' and Peasants' Soviet Government of Byelorussia was promulgated in Smolensk.

It said about the establishment of the Soviet government, about the abolition of decrees of the occupying authorities, about declaring the BPR Rada illegal and about the introduction of an 8-hour working day. All lands of landowners, monasteries and churches, as well as railways, communications, factories, plants, banks, etc. were declared to be the property of the working people.

On January 5, the first BSSR government moved to Minsk, which became the capital of the new state.

A special cancellation on FDC will be carried out at the post office No.1 of Minsk (shop “Philately”, 16 Moskovskaya street) on the stamp issuing day.
