On May 24, 2022 the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will issue 5 postage stamps ”Piciformes” of the series ”Birds of Belarus”.

A series continuation. Beginning Nos. 767–770, 1421–1426. Artist: Alexander Mityanin. Design: Marina Vitkovskaya. Print process: offset. Colour: multicoloured. Paper: chalk-surfaced, gummed. Perforations: comb 12. Stamps size: 28х40 mm. Sheets composition: 7 stamps & 1 coupon. Sheets size: 132х97 mm. Face value of each stamp: М. Print quantity: 35.000 stamps each.

Eurasian three-toed woodpecker is one of our smallest woodpeckers. It is listed in the Red Book of Belarus. It is more common in the Vitebsk region.

Eurasian wryneck got its name for the habit of imitating the behavior of a snake in the case of danger: hissing, stretching its neck and twisting its head. The only species of our woodpeckers that flies away for the winter.

Lesser spotted woodpecker is easy to recognize by its size. It is slightly larger than a sparrow. In the nesting season, it prefers floodplains of small rivers overgrown with deciduous species, as well as mixed forests near wetlands.

Middle spotted woodpecker needs deciduous trees for life. It may nest in city parks.

Grey-headed woodpecker got its name due to the gray color of the head. It can be seen in villages located near deciduous or mixed forests, where it feeds in gardens.

On the coupon of the sheetlet is black woodpecker. It is the largest of our woodpeckers. You can meet this species in a variety of places, including forest parks on the outskirts of large cities.

On the First Day Cover is a great spotted woodpecker. It is the most common species of woodpeckers, a beautiful and very colorful bird. It is found in all types of forests, as well as in settlements.
