Straw weaving is one of the oldest crafts. Researchers believe that the ancestors of Belarusians began to use straw as a material for weaving at the turn of the 2nd–1st millennia BC.
In 2022, the Belarusian nomination “Straw weaving of Belarus: art, craft, skills” is included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Belarusian works made from straw have no analogues in the world. The preservation and development of straw weaving is one of the priority areas of the state's activities for the protection of cultural heritage. Artistic products and souvenirs made from straw are associated with Belarus and testify to the creative abilities and hard work of Belarusians.
There were separate cities engaged in copper craft in Azerbaijan. Lahij became the center of this ancient art. The mountain settlement has the status of a state historical and cultural reserve of the 14th–15th centuries, included in the “Great Silk Road”.
Traditional methods of copper production in Lahij continue today. The dishes made by Lahij craftsmen are decorated with intricate and delicate patterns. The stamp No. 1545 shows a sini (round tray) and a sarpush (lid that kept the dish warm). In 2015, the “Copper craftsmanship of Lahij” was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
This contributes to the preservation of the ancient cultural traditions of the people of Azerbaijan, their transmission to future generations, as well as the socio-economic development of the ancient settlement.
