Carnivorous plants are able to catch and digest small animals, mainly insects, from whose bodies they obtain nitrogen and phosphorus (an additional source of nutrition), which allows these plants to grow where there are few of these elements.
There are about 300,000 species of flowering plants (сarnivorous are found only among them), of which over 600 species are сarnivorous.
There are 10 species of carnivorous plants growing in the wild in Belarus.
