Thematic philately is the collection of postage stamps, as well as other philatelic materials on a specific topic or related to a specific concept. Such topics can include almost everything - from birds on postage stamps to famous doctors and the history of the South West of England. Thematic philately originated in the 1920s and gradually reached a wide development among collectors.
