After World War II most Ukrainian political organizations in Europe outside of Soviet control were consolidated into one representative organization • the Ukrainian National Council {UNC - Українська Національна Рада - Ukrains'ka Natsional'na Rada} also known as the Ukrainian Government Center In Exile. The Ukrainian National Council instituted postage payment and set postage rates for intra-Ukrainian correspondence to be used in addition to the regular postal rates of the host country. These policies applied to all countries where there were Ukrainian National Council representatives, and not only to DP camps. Stamps as well as souvenir sheets were issued for this purpose. Most of these items can be recognized by their "Ukrainian Post" legend. Except for NCR 8-11, all stamps and souvenir sheets were issued in Munich, Germany. Ukrainian National Council Postal Stations were established In Argentina, Belgium, Canada, England, Germany, the United States, and perhaps in other countries In which Ukrainians resided. The majority of these stations used a round stamp for cancellation of the Ukrainian National Council stamps. Some of the DP camp stamps were also cancelled using UNC cancellations.
